‘Record is safe guys’ – Fans in shock as RCB bowl out RR for 59 in convincing 112-run win in IPL 2023

In the 60th match of the Indian Premier League 2023, Rajasthan Royals faced Royal Challengers Bangalore. Both sides were looking for a win to boost their playoff hopes. The game was held in Jaipur’s Sawai Mansingh Stadium. In the end, it was the visitors’ domination that left an impression.

After winning the toss, RCB captain Faf du Plessis elected to bat first in the day game. However, this plan backfired as both openers looked uncomfortable against the spinners during the powerplay. Virat Kohli and Faf had no answers for Yuzvendra Chahal, Ravichandran Ashwin, and Adam Zampa’s spin combination.

In the powerplay, the Royals only handed up 42 runs. Virat’s woes worsened when KM Asif was put on the attack in the seventh over. He was eventually dismissed on the final delivery of the over. The former team captain scored just 18 runs in the 19 balls that he faced.

Du Plessis rediscovered his form and put on a good second-wicket stand with Glenn Maxwell. Until the 15th over, the two had scored 69 runs together. The captain went on to make another half-century in the tournament before being removed after scoring 55 runs in 44 balls, including three fours and two sixes.

Maxwell (54 runs in 33 balls) also completed another half-century in the season. The 2016 finalists lost a few wickets in the death overs but a cameo of 29 runs in 11 balls from Anuj Rawat helped Bangalore get to a decent total. They managed to score 171/5 in their allotted 20 overs.

RR register the third-lowest score in IPL history

The chase was horrendous for the home side as they registered an unwanted record to their name. The Men in Pink were all out for 59 runs, the third-lowest total in tournament history, and handed RCB a 112-run win. Only two batters scored in double digits, thanks to RCB’s brilliance with the ball.

Wayne Parnell and Michael Bracewell were at the top of their game as they annihilated the RR middle order. The two took three and two wickets, respectively. Apart from them, Karn Sharma also took two wickets, while Mohammed Siraj and Maxwell took one each. Shimron Hetmyer was the only hope for RR, scoring 35 runs in 19 balls.
