‘Rohit be like- chal Axar tu ajaa’ – Fans in splits as Rohit Sharma reveals hilarious incident when Jadeja, Ashwin wanted to bowl from same end
India thrashed Australia by a huge margin of an innings and 132 runs on day three of the 1st Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. After India’s three-day victory over Australia, which gave them a 1-0 lead in the four-match series, captain Rohit Sharma said it was difficult for him to take the ball away from Jadeja and Ashwin in the second innings.
The three all-rounders, Ashwin, Axar Patel, and Jadeja, were instrumental in India’s 132-run victory over Australia in the first Border-Gavaskar Trophy Test in Nagpur. After electing to bat first, Australia was bowled out for 177 in their first innings. Ashwin and Jadeja each took eight wickets, with the former taking the top spot with 5/47.
Ashwin did not give the Australian batting unit any time in the second innings. He took his 31st five-wicket haul in Tests, dismissing them for 91 in 32.3 overs in one session on Day 3. Jadeja contributed a couple of wickets. The experienced pair bowled 24 of Australia’s 32.3 overs in the second innings.
After India’s three-day victory, which gave them a 1-0 lead in the four-match series, captain Rohit Sharma said it was difficult to take the ball away from Jadeja and Ashwin in the second innings.
“It’s a little tough (to handle three spinners). They are always inching towards their milestones. Jadeja was telling me, mereko ball do, I need 1 wicket to reach 250. Ashwin had picked up four wickets, he was closing in on five wickets, and he wanted to bowl. That is the challenge I am facing at the moment with these guys. I don’t know too much about the milestones but these guys are quite aware of it. These guys are of real quality. The pressure is always on me to find the right end for them,” Rohit said after the match on Saturday.

The Indian captain stated that when deciding which bowler to select against a specific batter, he considers match-ups. “I always try to find the right match-up. Ashwin has a great match-up against left-handers. Axar and Jadeja have unbelievable numbers against right-handers,” he said.

Reminded my of a situation which @virendersehwag was there and he himself explained it. At that time, it was between @anilkumble1074 and @harbhajan_singh and not surprisingly it was @sachin_rt to the rescue!

Not sure about milestones being at their back, but a wicket as conducive for spinners as at Nagpur and also when the bowlers are in their best rhythm, they would naturally want the ball to be with them throughout the day!
