Shreyas Iyer, Indian middle-order batter and the captain of Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) underwent successful back surgery in London but will now be unable to play in the next Test Championship final against Australia in June.

Iyer underwent back surgery on Tuesday in London, according to a report in the Times of India, and the Mumbai batsman should recover fully by the ODI World Cup 2023 later in the year. The 28-year-old only recently achieved a full recovery from a back injury, and he returned in the Border Gavaskar Trophy 2023 before suffering a setback. Iyer participated in the first two days of the most recent Test match against Australia before being sidelined.

His back ailment required surgery, which was successfully done, but the middle-order batter is going to miss the upcoming Test Championship final at the Oval in London in addition to the Indian Premier League 2023 season. According to the aforementioned article, Shreyas Iyer would likely miss the following three months while he recovers from the back problem. He will therefore be out of shape for the Test Championship final, but he should be back to full strength at the ODI World Cup this year.

Jasprit Bumrah, the top pacer for India, underwent surgery in New Zealand. The India spearhead would need at least six months to recover from back surgery. Considering the 50-over World Cup 2023 scheduled for later this year, Bumrah’s comeback from injury is under increasing time pressure.
