Virat Kohli, who is expected to be the backbone of the Indian batting unit in the upcoming Asia Cup, has made it known that he is ready for the tournament not only with his training but also with his new look. The 2023 Asia Cup, jointly hosted by Pakistan and Sri Lanka, is set to kick off on August 30 with the ‘Men in Green’ taking on Nepal at the Multan Cricket Stadium.

Team India is currently in a five-day skill-enhancing camp at Alur, Karnataka, gearing up for the 16th edition of the continental event in full swing. Rohit Sharma and Co. will their campaign with a blockbuster clash against Pakistan in Kandy on September 2. Ahead of the Asian Cricket Council event, the former India captain took to social media to share his new hairstyle.

One of the most stylish cricketers, Kohli often does a haircut before any tournaments or bilateral series. The right-hander continued his trend this time, where he seems to have trimmed both sides to give a fresh look. On Monday, August 28, Kohli shared an Instagram story to reveal his new look with a caption praising the hairdresser: “Always does a top job. My man Alfahad Ahmed”.

Kohli to play ODIs after a long gap

Kohli was last seen in action during the recently concluded West Indies tour. The Flamboyant batter scored 76 & 121 runs in the two-match Test series. However, he did not feature in the three-match ODI series although he was part of the squad. It also means that the 34-year-old will enter the Asia Cup after a gap of five months playing an ODI game.

The 2023 Asia Cup will also see the return of KL Rahul, Jasprit Bumrah and Shreyas Iyer, who have been sidelined for quite a while due to injuries. India will aim for a strong outing in the premier Asian tournament as it is the final phase of their preparations for the upcoming ODI World Cup.
