‘Sab Kohli fans hai, Bangalore fans nhi’ – Virat Kohli says ‘we’ve the best fans in the world’ despite not winning the title
In the 13th match of the Women’s T20 League, the Bangalore franchise locked horns against the UP side at the DY Patil Sports Academy, Navi Mumbai on Wednesday, March 15. The Smriti Mandhana-led side won their first match of the tournament by 5 wickets thanks to Kanika Ahuja’s batting performance.
Before the start of the match, the former Indian skipper went to meet the Bangalore women’s team in order to motivate them after they lost five consecutive games in the inaugural edition of the Women’s T20 League. Kohli opined that despite not being able to clinch the Indian T20 League title, the Bangalore franchise men’s team plays every season with the same intensity and passion.
There is no guarantee that we can give fans a cup every year: Virat Kohli
“I have been playing Indian T20 League for 15 years and I haven’t won it yet, but that doesn’t stop me from being excited everywhere. That’s all I can do. That’s the effort I can put, every game, every tournament that I play. If we win, great, if we don’t, I’m not going to go to my grave, thinking that only if I had won the league, I would have been a happy man dying. It doesn’t happen like that,” Kohli was quoted as saying.
“So always think about the opportunity you had rather than how bad it is right now. There’s always a flip side to it and could always be worse than this. And the fact that we haven’t won the Indian T20 League, I still feel we have the best fans in the world, only because we are always committed in every game we played for the Bangalore team and that has been the most special for our fans,” the 34-year-old stated.
“Now when they see the Bangalore franchise, the smile on their faces tells me that the belief in our commitment for the team is all we could have given them. There is no guarantee that we can give fans a cup every year, but there’s a guarantee that we give our 110 per cent. And that’s all you can strive to do,” the former Bangalore franchise skipper asserted.
Here’s how fans reacted to Virat Kohli’s statement:
Ha ha ha…
