Sachin Tendulkar names Lionel Messi as his favourite football player
Indian Cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar picked Argentina star Lionel Messi as his favourite footballer of all time. The former cricketer did a QandA session on his Twitter account named #AskSachin to engage fans and answer some interesting questions asked by them.
During the session, a fan asked Sachin about his favourite Footballer. “Who is your favourite footballer? #AskSachin,” the fan asked. Replying to the question, Sachin didn’t say anything but shared a picture of Lionel Messi kissing the FIFA World Cup Trophy he won in Qatar in December 2022.
Notably, both Sachin and Messi are legends of their respective games and even share the same jersey number (10). When Messi won the World Cup, people started drawing comparisons of him with the former Indian cricketer as both players were finally able to become World Champions in their last attempts.
Sachin won the Cricket World Cup in 2011 under the captaincy of MS Dhoni, he then took retirement from the game in 2013, while Messi also clinched the world title in 2022 which fans are expecting to be his last. However, after the World Cup, Messi already said he doesn’t have any plans for retirement and also stated that he wants to play as World Champion.
Sachin revealed what he told to Arjun when told him that he wants to be a cricketer
Following that, a fan also asked Sachin to reveal what he said to his son Arjun when he told him that he also wants to be a cricketer. The fans asked, “What was the first advice you gave to Arjun after he was determined to play Professional cricket ?” To which Sachi replied with, “ARE YOU SURE????????” This also means that Sachin wanted Arjun to be sure of his career choice.
Arjun Tendulkar recently made his debut for Mumbai Indians in the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League. Arjun has been a part of the franchise since 2021 when the five-time IPL champions picked him at a base price of INR 20 lakh. However, the 23-year-old had to wait till 2023 to get featured in the MI playing XI. He played his first IPL match against Kolkata Knight Riders and in the next match against Sunrisers Hyderabad, he also took his first IPL wicket as MI won that match by 14 runs.
