“We should get a feeling that he will win it for us” – Former Pakistan cricketer lashes out at Babar Azam despite win against Bangladesh

Pakistan cricket team beat Bangladesh by 7 wickets in their last clash of the ODI World Cup 2023 held on October 31 at Eden Gardens in Mumbai, which makes them jump to the fifth spot in the points table. Notably, Babar Azam and Co. will be facing New Zealand in their next clash, and both sides will be looking to get the win to make their spot in the top four of the marquee event.

However, despite their thrilling win, former Pakistani cricketer Shahid Afridi was not satisfied with skipper Babar Azam’s performances in the ODI World Cup 2023. The legendary cricketer lashed out at the 29-year-old skipper by giving the example of India’s star cricketers, KL Rahul and Virat Kohli, who always make sure Team India crosses the finishing line regardless of the situation.

“Babar Azam ka run run karna alag cheez hai lekin Babar Azam ke score se match jeetna alag hai. Virat Kohli, KL Rahul wagera kya karte hai? Woh apne run bhi karte hai, balls bhi khelte hai aur apne team ko jita ke bhi ate hai. (Babar scoring runs and Babar scoring runs in a winning cause are two different things. Look at what Virat Kohli and KL Rahul do. They score their runs, consume deliveries and make sure they win the match for the team),” Shahid Afridi said.

We say Babar Azam is a big player: Shahid Afridi

The 46-year-old cricketer accepted that Babar Azam is a big player; however, he feels the captain does not make sure he will guide his side towards the win. Moreover, the former all-rounder says that he doesn’t get the feeling that his side will win when Babar Azam goes to bat.

“I’m Babar’s fan, make no mistake. We say Babar is a big player. Reaching that level is one thing and maintaining your performance once you reach that level is much more difficult. When Babar Azam walks into bat, we should get a feeling that we will win for us. But that feeling doesn’t come,” he added further.
