Bangladesh skipper Shakib-Al-Hasan was seen getting beaten up by some Bangladeshi fans in the airport as he returned from a disastrous campaign in the ODI World Cup 2023. Notably, Bangladesh finished the tournament as one of the most underperforming teams. The only achievement for Bangladesh from the tournament seemed to be their qualification for the Champions Trophy, which is set to take place in Pakistan in 2025.

Shakib-Al-Hasan was beaten up by some fans in the airport, which was filled with a huge crowd. Notably, the move comes as Bangladesh did not perform well in the ODI World Cup 2023. Even in the stadium, fans were utterly disappointed with the performance of their team. Notably, in a match, the fans of Bangladesh left the stadium midway against the Netherlands, as the team could not beat even a lower-ranked team.

The video of a star cricketer getting beaten up by the fans has gone viral on the internet. However, it is unsure if he got beaten due to the team’s performance in the tournament, it was evident that Shakib-Al-Hasan was disappointed with the event. Moreover, the star all-rounder seemed to accept the beatings from the fans without uttering a word. Meanwhile, the middle-order batter and his team were criticized for appealing a timed-out dismissal against Angelo Mathews in the ODI World Cup 2023.

Here is Bangladesh’s performance in the ODI World Cup 2023

In the first match of the tournament, Bangladesh overcame Afghanistan and looked confident. However, after their first win, Bangladesh lost six matches on a trot. It included various teams like England, India, South Africa, New Zealand, the Netherlands, and Pakistan. Bangladesh managed to beat Sri Lanka but lost to Australia in their last match of the tournament.

Notably, it was the intent to win that was lacking among Bangladeshi cricketers. Moreover, fans expected more from the team, given their progress in cricket from 2012 to 2019. However, in the last four years, Bangladesh seems to have underperformed in many of the big tournaments.
