‘Sharma ji ko ab Test Championship pe dhyan dena chahiye’ – Fans react as Rohit Sharma registers yet another duck in IPL 2023
In the first match of Saturday, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) hosted Mumbai Indians (MI) at the Chepauk Stadium in Chennai. In their reverse fixture, MI came to Chennai to beat CSK and clinch second position on the points table. However, while batting first team had a terrible start as they lost three wickets on just 14 runs.
Skipper Rohit Sharma, Ishan Kishan and Camron Green were dismissed by Deepak Chahar and Tushar Deshpande in the first three overs of the game. Green in his innings scored just 6 runs off 4 balls while the hero of the last match Kishan scored just 7 runs off 9 balls. On the other hand, MI skipper Rohit continued his poor form as he registered a second consecutive duck in the league. He was dismissed by Deepak Chahar for a three-ball duck.
Notably, Rohit became the batter with the most ducks in the Cash-rich league. He surpassed wicketkeeper-batter Dinesh Karthik to register the unwanted record. He has 16 ducks in 236 IPL games while Karthik has 15 followed by Sunil Narine and Mandeep Singh. In their last game against Rajasthan Royals Rohit was dismissed for a three-ball duck in the very first over of the game.
Nehal Wadhera helps Mumbai Indians to register a respectable total
While batting first MI got a terrible start as both openers Camron Green and Ishan Kishan were dismissed in cheap by Tushar Deshpande and Deepak Chahar respectively. After that skipper Rohit Sharma also threw his wicket that led MI to struggle for 14/3 in 2.5 overs.
After their departure, Suryakumar Yadav along with Nehal Wadhera added 55 runs for the fourth wicket. Surya in his innings scored 26 runs off 22 balls with the help of three boundaries. On the other hand, Wadhera scored his first IPL fifty as he hammered 64 runs off 51 balls with the help of eight boundaries and a six. In the end with a Cameo from Tristan Stubbs MI posted 139/8 runs in the first innings. For CSK Maheesh Pathirna clinched three wickets, while Deshpande and Chahar clinched two wickets each.
