WATCH: Former Pakistan pacer Shoaib Akhtar hails India’s pace attack after magnificent win over Sri Lanka
Team India becomes the first team to qualify for the semi-finals of the ODI World Cup 2023 after their great victory over Sri Lanka on November 2 at the iconic Wankhede Cricket Stadium in Mumbai. Notably, Rohit Sharma and Co. thrashed the Kusal Mendis-led Sri Lankan side by an impressive margin of 302 runs to become the table-toppers and the only team that has been undefeated in the tournament so far.
However, following India’s great win, former Pakistan’s cricketer Shoaib Akhtar could not stop himself from reacting to Indian bowlers. The right-arm pacer called the Indian side ruthless, who are just unstoppable owing to their magnificent performances in the ongoing ODI World Cup 2023. In addition, the legendary cricketer said that Indians should celebrate the success of the fast bowlers as there was heavy noise in each delivery at Wankhede Stadium.
“India is becoming a ruthless side from this point the onslaught cannot be stopped but my request to Indians is to start celebrating your fast bowlers because everyone was happy and there was a lot of noise on each delivery at the Wankhede Stadium,” Shoaib Akhtar said on his YouTube channel.
I am personally happy for Shami he has found his rhythm back: Shoaib Akhtar
The Rawalpindi-born cricketer was impressed by the performances of Mohammed Shami as he helped guide India towards the playoffs. Notably, the GT star had scalped 14 wickets from his last three games, where he got a 5-wicket haul against New Zealand and Sri Lanka and a 4-wicket haul against England. Moreover, the 48-year-old cricketer also heaps praise on Mohammed Siraj for showing his great form during the powerplays and in the death overs. The former fast bowler called Jasprit Bumrah a lethal bowler.
“I am personally happy for Shami he has found his rhythm back he has claimed so many wickets and has surpassed, Siraj is running, Bumrah is lethal he is giving them comfort to both of them to bowl freely,” he added further.
