‘Jai & Viru of Indian team’ – Fans react as Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul’s tons power India to 410/4 in ODI World Cup 2023 vs Netherlands

Team India has locked horns against the Netherlands for their final league stage game of the ODI World Cup 2023 on November 12 at M. Chinnaswamy Cricket Stadium in Bangalore. Notably, the hosts posted a massive total of 410/4 in the given 50 overs, owing to magnificent centuries from India’s middle-order batsmen, Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul.

Notably, Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul struck their first centuries in the tournament so far from the nine games they have played. Speaking about the game here, India’s skipper Rohit Sharma won the toss and invited the visitors to field first. Notably, after being opted to bat first, the home team posted a massive score and created history by posting the second-largest total by Team India in ODI World Cup history.

India’s skipper Rohit Sharma scored 61 runs from 54 balls, getting eight boundaries and two sixes, while India’s opening batsman Shubman Gill smashed 51 runs, giving them a flying start to post the challenging total. Following them, RCB stalwart Virat Kohli also posted 51 runs from 56 balls.

It’s not rocket science, got to go hard in the last 10 overs: KL Rahul

However, Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul changed the momentum of the game and went in to score a wonderful hundred. The KKR skipper scored 128 runs from 94 balls, scoring 10 boundaries and five sixes with a strike rate of 137. On the other hand, the wicketkeeper-batsman piles up 102 runs from 64 balls, including 11 boundaries and four sixes, with a solid strike rate of 160.

“Not getting a lot of time (in the middle) in the last two games, so it was nice to get some time today. Batting at 5, it’s important to get that confidence, it was a good knock. Getting that confidence to hit sixes towards the end was important. It’s not rocket science, got to go hard in the last 10 overs. Tried to get as many runs as possible, that was the plan, the ball gets softer, so hitting sixes at the back end becomes difficult,” KL Rahul said in the mid-innings break.
