WATCH: Mohammad Rizwan and Marco Jansen involved in fiery heat exchange in South Africa vs Pakistan clash of ODI World Cup 2023

South Africa have locked horns against the Pakistan team for their sixth game of the ODI World Cup 2023 at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Notably, the win against Babar Azam and Co. will place them in the top spot due to their better net-run rate as compared to host India. On the other hand, this is a must-win encounter on the league stage for the Men in Green, as they are on the verge of getting knocked out of the semi-final of the marquee event.

However, South Africa all-rounder Marco Jansen and Pakistan wicketkeeper batsman Mohammad Rizwan fell into furious talks with each other during the game. Notably, Pakistan’s top-order batsman came to bat following Marco Jansen’s two early blows against them. Meanwhile, the left-arm pacer had the chance to take his third wicket; however, he dropped a catch. Following that, the right-handed batsman scored a boundary on the next ball, which caused arguments between them.

Meanwhile, South Africa’s skipper, Temba Bavuma, is hopeful of performing well against the Men in Green. The top-order batsman feels they are playing good and inspirational cricket so far. In addition, the 33-year-old cricketer feels it’s not a T20 World Cup game where one can play 4-5 games as opposed to 50 overs.

South Africa has always struggled to win against Pakistan in ODI World Cup history

“We’ve played some good cricket, inspirational performances. We’ve build some momentum with our bowlers and batters clicking. This is not like a T20 WC where you play just 4-5 group games, we need to keep doing well. I would have surely batted here, looks like a good wicket. Hopefully it stays nice and hard like this, we’ll have to assess quickly on how to go about things here. Three changes – I come back, Tabriz Shamsi and Ngidi comes in. Reeza Hendricks, Rabada and Lizaad Williams miss out,” Temba Bavuma said.

Pakistan (Playing XI): Abdullah Shafique, Imam-ul-Haq, Babar Azam(c), Mohammad Rizwan(w), Saud Shakeel, Shadab Khan, Iftikhar Ahmed, Mohammad Nawaz, Shaheen Afridi, Mohammad Wasim Jr, Haris Rauf

South Africa (Playing XI): Quinton de Kock(w), Temba Bavuma(c), Rassie van der Dussen, Aiden Markram, Heinrich Klaasen, David Miller, Marco Jansen, Gerald Coetzee, Keshav Maharaj, Tabraiz Shamsi, Lungi Ngidi
