South Africa’s star batter Aiden Markram’s unbeaten century has helped them secure a 111-run victory against Australia in Senwes Park on September 12. Notably, this is a magnificent first win for South Africa against Australia. The visitors have already clinched three matches of the T20I series by 3-0. Following that, Mitchell Marsh’s side also clinched the first and second ODIs, but the hosts held their nerves pretty well to win the third ODI to stay alive in the series with two more matches to go, which are set to take place on September 15 and 17.

Speaking about the match, Australia’s skipper, Marsh, won the toss chose to bat first. Notably, after being sent to bat first, Markram’s magnificent century guided them to post a massive total of 338/6 in the given 50 overs. Later, while chasing, the Proteas bundled out the visitors for 227 in 34.3 overs to take the series by 2-1.

Meanwhile, after a terrific win, star player Aiden Markram received the Player of the Match award and felt happy to contribute for his side. Notably, this win was important to staying alive in the series. The stylish right-handed batter also heaps praise on the bowlers who helped the home team bundle out Australia. In addition, the top-order batter has opened up about his initial feelings in the game and how he had carried the momentum to take the lead.

“Nice to contribute when the team does well and we win. Crunch game for us to win and stay in the series. Very pleasing. Challenging, quite soppy and the odd one was turning quite a bit. Once you get a bit of momentum, we tried applying pressure. Our bowlers did well after we got a nice total. I was not feeling too great in the first 10 balls but was nice to battle through that and be there for the team at the end. I was just trying to think of getting sixes in the last over. Grateful that it was meant to be and I got the hundred,” Aiden Markram said during post match presentation.
