‘Asia Cup ke bad hi kar lete’ – Fans react as Sri Lanka Cricket demands “urgent explanation” after huge loss over India in ODI World Cup 2023

The Sri Lanka Cricket Team suffered a crushing defeat against host India in their last game of the ODI World Cup 2023 on November 2 at Wankhede Cricket Stadium in Mumbai. Notably, the 302-run loss against the home team diminishes their hopes of regaining their spot in the semi-final as well as placing them at the bottom of the table.

However, according to reports, Sri Lanka Cricket officials have expressed deep concerns and disappointment after the massive loss against Team India. Meanwhile, the SLC board has demanded urgent explanations from their coaching staff as well as selectors for the crushing defeat.

“Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has expressed its deep concern and disappointment over the performance of the Sri Lanka National Team during the ongoing World Cup 2023, particularly the disappointing loss against India yesterday. In light of these concerns, SLC has called for an urgent and comprehensive explanation from the entire coaching staff and Selectors,” stated SLC in a statement.

Sri Lanka Cricket firmly believes in accountability, transparency: Reports

The Sri Lanka cricket team has raised questions about their preparations, strategies, and performances. Moreover, the board reveals that their side never interfered in the selection as well as gave them a huge freedom to make their team. However, SLC demands quick and urgent reasons for their crushing loss against India in the ODI World Cup 2023.

“The recent overall performance and shocking defeats have raised significant questions about the team’s preparation, strategies and performance. SLC management never interfered with the hired professional staff to carry out their duties and responsibilities as per the norms and regulations. However, SLC firmly believes in accountability, transparency and the importance of addressing subject concerns promptly,” stated further.

Speaking about the game, Team India posted a massive total of 357/8 in the given 50 overs, owing to fantastic batting performances from Virat Kohli, Shubman Gill, and Shreyas Iyer. However, during the chase, Sri Lanka were all out for just 55 runs, which helped Team India enter the semi-finals.
