‘When you look at Daryl Mitchell….’ – Sunil Gavaskar makes stunning comments on CSK’s new buy ahead of IPL 2024

Former India cricketer Sunil Gavaskar feels that the great cricketer Daryl Mitchell and star batter Rachin Ravindra have been the best buys for CSK in IPL 2024, which is slated to take place in mid-March. Notably, the MS Dhoni-led CSK aims to retain their title, and they went on to buy some solid picks to boost their camp in the auction.

However, former India skipper Sunil Gavaskar says that CSK had the best player, Daryl Mitchell, in the squad. Notably, the star all-rounder had shown his lethal form in the ODI World Cup 2023 in host country India, where he went on to hammer magnificent hundreds against India in the league stage as well as in the semi-final clash, which places him in the CSK squad for a whopping amount of Rs 14 crore. Moreover, the star cricket team can bowl some overs as well, which is a big boost for CSK.

“Doesn’t matter whether I am happy or not, they have got to be happy. I think they have got a good blend over there. When you look at Daryl Mitchell, who I think has been a splendid cricketer in all forms of the game. The way he played in the ODI World Cup and the way he has played in the T20 format as well, with the fact that he can bowl a bit. He might not bowl you four overs but he can maybe come and bowl you the odd couple of overs,” Sunil Gavaskar said on Star Sports.

I know the emotional buy would have been Rachin Ravindra: Sunil Gavaskar

Meanwhile, the cricketer turned analyst feels New Zealand batter Rachin Ravindra is also the best pick for CSK, who can fill the shoes of star all-rounder Moeen Ali in the upcoming marquee event.

“Then either at No. 3, No. 4 or No. 5, and even as a finisher at No. 5 or No. 6, he can be a very, very dangerous player. So I think that’s probably their best buy. I know the emotional buy would have been Rachin Ravindra because of the fantastic World Cup that he had. They will probably be looking to see whether he can fit in the shoes of Moeen Ali,” he added further.
