India vs Australia 2023
Suryakumar Yadav heap praises on Rinku Singh and compares him with former India batter
India won the second T20I match against Australia in a five-match T20I series. The Men in Blue lost the ODI World Cup 2o23 final against the same opponent. Suryakumar Yadav’s team posted a massive score of 235/4 in 20 overs. In the first T20I India’s new star Rinku Singh stole the show by winning the first T20I game in a calm mind. In the second Yashasvi Jaiswal, Ruturaj Gaikwad, and Ishan Kishan all scored half-centuries. But again Rinku was in the limelight of the second T20I.
Rinku has done well on the domestic circuit and in franchise cricket. In the 2023 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), he excelled in the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and performed brilliantly for the franchise. He got his maiden call-up for the Men in Blue in the tour against Ireland where he showed his ability to finish the game whether batting first or chasing.
Rinku showed yet again why he is one of the top finishers in the world right now. During the first T20I at Visakhapatnam, he hit an unbeaten 22 out of 14 deliveries, in the second game, batting first, he blasted 31 runs off just 9 deliveries, smacking four fours and two sixes at a strike rate of 344.44.
The boys are not putting too much pressure on me: Suryakumar Yadav
Surya said after the match, “The boys are not putting too much pressure on me. They are taking onus. I told them to be prepared to bat first here. When I saw Rinku come in to bat in the last game, the composure he showed was brilliant. It reminded me of someone. Everyone knows the answer.”
Rinku Singh after the match said, “I bat in this number a lot. So, I am calm knowing this position. I know sometimes I will get 5-6 overs (to bat) or sometimes two overs. That’s exactly how I practice, as if I’m batting in the last five. That’s what VVS sir (V V S Laxman, India’s coach for the T20I series) has also told me to train in the nets. I like to play each ball according to where it lands. I try to notice whether it’s a slower ball or fast ball and I respond accordingly.”
