Mohammad Siraj was phenomenal against Sri Lanka in the final of the Asia Cup 2023. In just the first three overs of his spell, Siraj ensured a huge lead for the Indian team. The home side could not recover from the huge dent. There was no stopping Siraj and the Indian team on the big day. India won its 8th title in the history of the Asia Cup. 

The spell of Siraj was undoubtedly the highlight of the day. The right-arm pacer ran through the top order of Sri Lanka. Siraj was getting the ball to swing away from the right-hander. But the Indian pacer also made the best use of the conditions by hitting the right lengths. Off the surface, Siraj got the ball to nip back into the right-handers.  

Due to the excellent display of fast bowling, Siraj was threatening to play. It was almost impossible to bat against Siraj. There was pace, swing, seam, and intent in the bowling from the pacer. It was like facing a great bowler at his absolute best on the big day. When it mattered the most, Siraj stepped up and helped the team to win the match. Siraj had a memorable day without a doubt.

In his 7 overs, Siraj claimed 6 wickets and conceded just 21 runs, including a maiden over. India won the match by 10 wickets, as they restricted Sri Lanka to 50 runs and chased the target in just 6.1 overs. There was no doubt about Siraj being awarded the Player of the Match. He literally won the final for the Indian team almost all by himself, which is indeed a special feat.  

Speaking about his performance in the post-match conference, Siraj revealed how he bowled and shared his thoughts on the nature of the surface. Towards the end, Siraj dedicated his award to the ground staff, who worked hard in every match affected by rain in the tournament. The gesture of the Indian player won hearts of the fans.
