‘Gold toh pakka hai ab’ – Fans react as Team India beat Nepal by 23 runs to enter semi-final of Asian Games 2022

Team India beat Nepal by 23 runs on October 3 at ZJUT Cricket Field in Hangzhou, China, and made their way to the semi-finals of the Asian Games 2022. Notably, the Men in Blue will be looking to bring a gold medal for the country after the Indian Women Team clichés gold and brings glory to the nation.

Speaking about the match, India’s skipper, Ruturaj Gaikwad, won the toss and invited Nepal to field first. Notably, after opting to bat first, star India opener Yashasvi Jaiswal shows his magnificent form and becomes the first player to score a century in the Asian Games 2022. The RR batter hammered 100 runs from 49 balls, featuring eight boundaries and seven sixes, with a solid strike rate of 205 which gives the terrific start to his side.

Following them, skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad scored 25 runs. However, Team India’s middle order faltered as Mumbai Indians star Tilak Varma and Punjab Kings batter Jitesh Sharma could only score 2 and 5 runs respectively. Later, towards the end, CSK star Shivam Dubey and KKR batter Rinku Singh remained unbeaten with scores of 25 and 37 runs respectively, to post a massive total of 202/4 runs in the given 20 overs.

Nepal’s participation in the Asian Games 2022 came to an end after a quarter-final loss to India

Later, while chasing, Nepal had a decent start as their openers Bhurtel and Asif Sheikh scored 28 and 10 runs, respectively. Following their dismissal, Kusal Malla and skipper Rohit Paudel pile up 29 and 3 runs respectively. However, the middle order once again stood up and took responsibility as the star batters, Dipendra Singh Airee and Jora, scored 32 and 29 runs, respectively.

Notably, Nepal tried and fought hard but couldn’t chase down the target set by Men in Blue during the play and could only manage 179/9, ending their journey at the Asian Games 2022 with a loss over India in the quarterfinals. Meanwhile, Avesh Khan and Ravi Bishnoi scalped three wickets each, while star pacer Arshdeep Singh picked up two wickets in the play.
