‘If the opportunity is there for us to score 350…..’ – Temba Bavuma sends big warning to Pakistan team in their do-or-die clash against South Africa

South Africa is all set to lock horns against Pakistan for their sixth game of the ODI World Cup 2023 on October 27 at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Notably, Temba Bavuma-led Proteas currently is in the second spot as they have four wins and just one loss in the ongoing marquee event. Their win against Babar Azam and Co. will place them in the top spot owing to their better net-run rate as compared to host team India.

Meanwhile, South African skipper Temba Bavuma feels the night light is better in Chennai if they bat second in the innings. However, the stylish right-handed batsman accepted that they had a lot of success while batting first and defending the target over chasing in the ongoing marquee event.

“I watched the Afghanistan game with Pakistan and it seemed to get a lot better batting under light. So, I guess there’s that temptation from a batting point of view at least. There’s obviously us needing to consider the fact that we’ve had a lot of success of late batting first,” Temba Bavuma said.

We don’t have a great record against Pakistan in ODIs: Temba Bavuma

The 33-year-old cricketer sent out a big warning to the Pakistan team as he reiterated that if they get the chance to score over 350 runs, then the Proteas will do that. In addition, the top-order batsman revealed that he thought the Pakistan team would be in the top four of the ODI World Cup 2023 at the start of the tournament. The Western Cape-born cricketer accepted that they do not have great stats in ODIs against Pakistan, but he is quite confident in turning things around for his side in their upcoming clash against Babar Azam and Co.

“If the opportunity is there for us to score 350, we’ll do so. If not, we’ll make sure we play what’s happening in front of us as best as we can. I had them as one of the top four teams at the end of the group stages. We don’t have a great record against Pakistan in ODIs. With everything that is happening around their team, the things that are not happening well for them,” he added further.
