‘Tendulkar naam main he kuch baat hai’ – Fans react to Sachin Tendulkar’s emotional note on Arjun Tendulkar’s IPL debut
As Arjun celebrated his Indian Premier League (IPL) debut representing Mumbai Indians (MI) in their clash against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at Wankhede Stadium on Saturday, his father and cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar was filled with pride. Tendulkar, sent a note to Arjun that he uploaded on Instagram because he was so proud to see his son accomplish yet another significant milestone in his career as a cricket player. By continuing the legacy by representing the same Indian Premier League (IPL) team as his father Tendulkar did for a number of years, Arjun is carrying it forward.
The batting maestro uploaded a picture with his son along with a lengthy caption. The note read that, “You have worked very hard to reach here, and I am sure you will continue to do so.Arjun, today you have taken another important step in your journey as a cricketer,” the 49-year-old wrote, adding, “As your father, someone who loves you and is passionate about the game, I know you will continue to give the game the respect it deserves and the game will love you back.”
The 23-year-old, who was selected in the auction in 2021 but was forced to withdraw due to an injury, has been playing with Mumbai Indians (MI) over the last few years. It’s a significant moment for the Tendulkar household as Arjun earned his IPL debut after a lengthy wait. He was later selected again in the 2022 auction, but he did not get an opportunity to participate in a single match last year.
Arjun has participated in Mumbai’s youth cricket programme, and in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy in 2020–21, he made his T20 debut. He changed alliances last year, joining Goa, for whom he made his Ranji Trophy debut in December 2022 at Porvorim versus Rajasthan during an Elite Division game.

Best wishes for great cricketing career and health dear Arjun. Your father is our hero and legend, but I’ll say don’t take pressure of father legacy. Be a good player, play your natural game and enjoy this game of cricket. God bless u. Mahakal ki kripa ap per sada rahe. Jai shri…

Incredible wise words. Well said Sachin Ji. Arjun reminds me of Kapil Dev. I hope we see him represent India in Test Matches soon. There is a spark of leadership in him.
