Perth Scorchers and Brisbane Heat locked horns in the final of the Big Bash League 2022-23. Ahead of the game, the Scorchers were looking to defend their title. On the other hand, the Heat were looking for the first title since the 2012-13 season. The three-time winners, Perth qualified for the final after beating Sydney Sixers in the Qualifier game a week ago.

On the other hand, the Heat had to beat the Sixers in the Knockout, and then the 2018-19 winners Melbourne Renegades to reach the summit clash. Meanwhile, in the title clash, the Teal Brigade, Brisbane won the toss and elected to bat first. The decision was proved right in the first two overs as Josh Brown scored all 25 runs for the team. However, he failed to convert his start into a big score.

At this stage, the likes of Sam Hazelett and Nathan McSweeney put together 79 runs for the second wicket. Notably, both failed to score a fifty in fact none of their batters could score a fifty. In the end, Max Bryant scored 31 off 14 balls to take the team to 175/7. For the Scorchers, Jason Behrendorff and Matthew Kelly took two wickets each. On the other hand, David Payne, Aaron Hardie, and Andrew Tye took one each.

The former was caught napping while trying to take a single in the fifth over of the innings. In the seventh and eighth overs, the team lost the wickets of Bancroft and Hardie and were looking set to lose the title.

However, thanks to Ashton Turner’s half-century and his partnership of 80 runs with Jos Inglis, the team came close to winning the game. After their wickets, the likes of Nick Hobson and Cooper Connolly ensured that the team wins their fifth title as the team won the game by five wickets.
