Bangladesh vs India 2022
‘They’ll fancy a good tournament’- Washington Sundar predicts Bangladesh’s 2023 ODI World Cup campaign
India got a disappointing loss at the hands of Bangladesh in the ODI series. As a result of back-to-back losses, the Men in Blue have lost the series as well.
Washington Sundar who took three wickets in the match impressed all despite India’s loss. The spinner appeared in front of the media after the loss and praised Bangladesh for the performance.
“To be honest, Bangladesh is a high-quality side, especially at home. Their record says so, because I think they’ve only lost one series [in recent years], against England. They’ve been very, very successful at home,” Sundar told the media ahead of the third ODI in Chattogram today.
“Definitely, especially in the subcontinent, Bangladesh is a very, very good side. Even in the T20 World Cup, they had a good run. They’ve been doing really well in the last few years, and I’m sure they will fancy a good tournament going into the World Cup,” he added.
Sundar also talked about his batting promotion, saying, “Great opportunity for me last game. The World Cup is next year, want to be a player who can play in any situation, any combination and wherever the team needs. I want to win games for the team, wherever asked me to play. I want to contribute my potential to the team, keep doing better and getting better in every aspect of the game.”
Want to be present and win gams for India- Sundar
“Every game is an opportunity to get better. We are not playing a lot of games in the next 10 months so every game is an opportunity for us. We want to play a good brand of cricket in any condition and situation, irrespective of whom we play. We will keep trying to improve in each game, “ said the 23-year-old.
When asked about his injuries in the past he said, “Disappointing to have injured in the past. Want to be in the present and win games for India. That will help me as well as the team as well.”
“Definitely. That’s what the roles I have been getting in the past few years. The number that I come into bat demands power-hitting skills and I have been specifically working on it. Glad all my hard work is paying off. Hope it will continue to be do, “ said the bowling all-rounder when asked about power hitting.
