‘This man is right’ – Legendary cricketer Ravi Shastri names two star Indian batters to get into the team for ODI World Cup 2023

The ‘Men in Blue’ are gearing up for the upcoming World Cup but are still facing issues in the middle order owing to KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer’s injuries. Notably, there is no official update on when these star batters will return to the squad. The LSG skipper suffered a leg injury during the match against RCB in IPL 2023, whereas Iyer sustained injuries during the fourth Test match of the Border Gavaskar Trophy earlier this year.

Notably, following their injuries, a plethora of cricket experts are suggesting a few players to get in the squad for the forthcoming World Cup. Speaking on the same subject, former India cricketer turned analyst Ravi Shastri has named Yashasvi Jaiswal and Tilak Varma to get into the team for the major tournament.

In addition, the former India head coach feels that there should be two left-handed players in the squad. Moreover, he also says that the selectors should know which batters are in hot form. Furthermore, the legendary cricketer suggests bringing Yashasvi Jaiswal or Tilak Varma, owing to their magnificent form in the recently concluded West Indies series.

I am very impressed with Tilak: Ravi Shastri

“There are three other positions where I think two left-handers have to come in. Now, this is where the selectors’ role comes in because they are watching. They know who’s the guy who’s hot. If Tilak Varma is hot, bring him in. If you think (Yashasvi) Jaiswal is hot, bring him in,” Ravi Shastri said.

Notably, the 61-year-old cricketer is very impressed with Mumbai Indian’s young batter. In addition, the cricket commentator affirms that the 20-year-old batter should be one of the lefties in the lineup thanks to his outstanding stints in the recently concluded IPL 2023 as well as the recent West Indies campaign.

“I am very impressed with Tilak and if I want a left-hander, I would look in that direction. The way he has got his runs over the last three months, whether in the IPL or India, he has ticked all the boxes,” he added further.
