‘This puts cat among the pigeons’ – Star Indian cricketer’s huge comment after Ishan Kishan’s double ton while opening in third ODI

On 10  December 2022, team India locked horns with Bangladesh for the third and final match of the ODI series. It was a vital clash for the Men in Blue to avoid a clean sweep. However, before this match, Rohit Sharma got injured in the second ODI and thus, KL Rahul became the captain.

However, Ishan Kishan replaced the Indian skipper as the opener of the side. But, India managed to win that match by a mammoth margin of 227 runs. Ishan Kishan won the player of the match award as he scored 210 runs off 131 balls. Regarding that inning, star Indian cricketer Dinesh Karthik came up with a huge comment.

“It was beautiful to watch the way Ishan paced his innings after first five overs” – Dinesh Karthik on Ishan Kishan

While speaking on Cricbuzz, Dinesh Karthik said that it was a beautiful sight to watch the way Ishan Kishan paced his innings en route to his maiden double hundred. He said: “It was beautiful to watch the way Ishan paced his innings after the first five overs. The kind of shots he played, he took on bowlers consistently.”

“The beauty about 200 was the strike rate; at 160, scoring a double hundred is a special effort. He batted beautifully, the last 100 coming off 41 balls says a lot. That’s the skill, that’s why he has been picked by the Mumbai franchise at such a high price. He’s somebody who is going to deliver. This, in many ways, puts the cat among the pigeons when it comes to the openers,” Karthik added.

Speaking about the match, Ishan Kishan scored 210 runs off 131 balls, including 24 fours and 10 sixes. He became the fastest batter to score a double hundred in ODIs. Along with him, Virat Kohli also scored 113 runs off 91 balls. Thus, India scored 409 runs for eight wickets in 50 overs. In reply, Bangladesh got bundled out for 182 runs in 34 overs. As a result, India won the match by 227 runs and finished the series with a scoreline of 2-1.
