‘Three chokers and one trained winner’ – Fans react to four teams qualifying for semifinal of ODI World Cup 2023

The teams for the semifinal of the ODI World Cup 2023 have been confirmed. Four teams have qualified further for the knockout stage of the tournament in India. The hosts India, the 2015 champions Australia, the 2015 and 2019 finalists New Zealand, and South Africa have qualified for the semifinal stage of the tournament. The loss of Pakistan against England confirmed the fourth semifinalist of the tournament.

New Zealand qualified for the semifinal as the fourth team. As Pakistan failed to win the match against England, let alone improving their net run rate, New Zealand entered the semifinal of the ODI World Cup 2023. As Pakistan was knocked out, New Zealand will take on India in the first semifinal in Mumbai’s Wankhede stadium. The match will be played on the 15th of November.

On the other hand, Australia will face South Africa on the 16th of November in Kolkata’s Eden Gardens. The two teams will be playing their first ever encounter in the knockout of the ODI World Cup since 2007. In the two knockout matches between the two teams, Australia has a win to their name. The other one ended in a tie in 1999, which is regarded as one of the best ODI matches ever.
