‘Ticket ke paise kaha se aaye’ – Fans react as Shaheen Afridi gets spotted watching 1st Ashes Test at Edgbaston

Pakistan pacer Shaheen Afridi was seen at the Edgbaston Stadium in Birmingham enjoying the ongoing first match of the 2023 Ashes series between England and Australia. Both teams are taking on each other on Day 4 of the Test match and the star Pakistani cricketer came as a spectator to the oldest rivalry in Test Cricket.

Notably, Shaheen will be seen back in cricketing action in the upcoming Test series in Sri Lanka. The 23-year-old made his return to the Test squad after he suffered a knee injury last year in the Sri Lanka Test series and was out of action for quite some time. Apart from this, the Pakistan Cricket Board also appointed former South African pacer Morne Morkel to their coaching staff on a six-month contract.

“After missing our entire home season because of the injury I suffered in Sri Lanka, I am eager to make an impactful comeback in the same country and complete a century of wickets in Test cricket,” Shaheen said after being picked as quoted in India TV.

Pakistan’s squad for Test series:

Babar Azam (c), Mohammad Rizwan (vc & wk), Aamir Jamal, Abdullah Shafique, Abrar Ahmed, Hasan Ali, Imam-ul-Haq, Mohammad Huraira, Mohammad Nawaz, Naseem Shah, Noman Ali, Salman Ali Agha, Sarfaraz Ahmed (wk), Saud Shakeel, Shaheen Afridi and Shan Masood.

Talking about the ongoing Ashes match, Australia gave a sterling reply to England’s 393 for 8 as they were bowled out for 386 runs in their first innings. Usman Khawaja was the star of the Australian innings as he got out after scoring 141 runs off 321 balls. In their second innings, England have scored 155 runs for the loss of 5 wickets before lunch on Day 4 with a lead of 162 runs. Skipper Ben Stokes and Jonny Bairstow are still at the crease.

“When I’m getting sprayed (barracked) by the crowd as I’m walking out there today and as I’m going to nets being told that I can’t score runs in England…I guess it was just a bit more emotional than normal,” Khawaja said in the post-match press conference,” Khawaja said in post-match press conference after scoring his 15th Test ton.
