Top five best players who are ruled out from ITL
Players are getting ruled out quite easily nowadays and virtually every alternate day fans have been getting news of athletes getting ruled out due to injury. This edition of the Indian T20 League has seen a high number of players being ruled out even before the tournament started.
A big host of players from India and some quality overseas athletes announced that they won’t be available for the Indian T20 League 2023 as they are still suffering from injuries and setbacks or haven’t recovered from the previous injury issues.
Here is a look at the top five players who are ruled out of the Indian T20 League 2023:
1) Jasprit Bumrah
India’s star bowler Jasprit Bumrah who is still recovering from a back injury will skip the competition. He is also probably going to miss the Test Championship final because the Indian Cricket Board wants to give him the appropriate recovery time and not rush him into the 50-over World Cup.
Bumrah has been out of action for about 7 months and it has been a recurring injury that kept him out of the game for so long. He just completed his surgery and is expected to be unavailable for the next 3 to 5 months. England’s JofraArcher has taken the responsibility of leading the pack in his absence in Mumbai.
2) Rishabh Pant
After being involved in an awful car crash in December of last year, Rishabh Pant will likely miss the bulk of 2023 and won’t be able to join Delhi during the current season. In his absence, Delhi will additionally have to look for a replacement captain.
For the upcoming season, David Warner has been announced as the skipper of the Delhi franchise and would hope Pant can get fit for at least the next season as he is a crucial part of the franchise.
3) Shreyas Iyer
Shreyas Iyer, the Indian batter, is set to undergo back surgery and miss the full 2023 Indian T20 League in addition to the Test Championship final in June. He has already missed a chunk of games for India this year and will look to come back to cricket sooner rather than later.
Iyer has experienced right lower back pain since his return following the Bangladesh series in December due to a pinched nerve brought on by a bulging disc in that region. It is again a recurring injury that has made a player be ruled out of the League this year. In his absence, Nitish Rana has been given skipper duties for Kolkata.
4) Prasidh Krishna
Prasidh Krishna, the pacer for the Rajasthan franchise, will not be playing in the Indian T20 League 2023 due to a lumbar stress injury that will necessitate surgery. His replacement for the tournament has also been announced in the form of Rajat Patidar.
Indian bowler Prasidh Krishna, who finished the 2022 Indian T20 League season with 19 wickets and was his team’s second-highest wicket-taker behind Yuzvendra Chahal, was crucial to the success of Rajasthan. Krishna, however, will not participate in the forthcoming Indian T20 League due to injury.
5) Rajat Patidar
Bangalore have suffered a severe setback in the current Indian T20 League this season. Rajat Patidar, one of their star batters, has been declared out for the full campaign. His absence was initially thought to be limited to the initial half of the season, and the management had faith that he would return eventually.
However, Bangalore has since acknowledged the most recent development and said they won’t be naming Patidar’s replacement at this time. Patidar was a key player and the franchise wanted to take time to choose his replacement.
