‘Triple digit bhi jayega’ – Fans react as Mominul Haque ends run drought with fighting 50 against India

India crushed Bangladesh in the first Test by 188 runs and the two teams are facing off in the second Test that kicked off on December 22, Thursday. It was the Bangla Tigers who won the toss and elected to bat first, which many opined was a lack of luck for the Indian team. However, much to the delight of the Indian fans, the pacers managed to turn things around and produce breakthroughs at regular intervals.

While the likes of Najmul Hossain Shanto and Zakir Hasan made their way back to the dressing room for 24 and 15 respectively, Mominul Haque, on the other hand, played a steady innings and reached the 50-run landmark in no time. As far as the Indian bowlers are concerned, Jaydev Unadkat for brought in place of Kuldeep Yadav and the left-arm has gathered 2 wickets to his name so far in the day.

The likes of Umesh Yadav and Ravichandran Ashwin have picked up 1 wicket apiece and it remained to be seen if they could bag more wickets for the team. Post lunch, Bangladesh were reeling at 172/5 with Mominul unbeaten at 58 and Mehidy Hasan Miraz at the other end.

Need to bowl well in the first innings: KL Rahul

Prior to the start of the match, at the toss, the skipper KL Rahul said that they wanted to bat first as well and added that he would back his team to bowl well in the first innings. Further, Rahul said that it would be important for the Indian team to keep up their game and carry on with the momentum from the first Test.

“We’d have done the same. To be honest, on seeing the surface, not sure what to make of it. There is some grass that you can see, but it’s generally good to bat here. There is generally some bounce here and some help for both pacers and spinners. We’d have wanted to bat first but we aren’t sure what to expect,” Rahul was quoted as saying at the toss.

As things stand, let us take a look at a few Twitter reactions to Mominul Haque’s innings:
