Virat Kohli’s shocking revelation about leaving RCB and joining other teams in IPL

Virat Kohli is the best batter this generation has witnessed and he can also be considered as the best white-ball cricketer world-wide. The 35-year-old batter was in terrific form in the ODI World Cup 2023. Kohli was the highest runscorer in the marquee competition with 765 runs in 11 matches at an average of 95.62. He has probably won every other trophy in the 15 years of his cricketing career. But the one trophy that is missing from the cabinet of fame is the Indian Premier League (IPL) trophy.

He has played for only one franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) since the last 15 years. When asked if he was interested in joining another organization, he gave a surprising response that shocked RCB supporters. He stated his desire to leave the franchise and join other teams. The batter is the highest run-getter for the franchise.

RCB qualified for the final three times in 2009, 2011, and 2016 but, unfortunately RCB could not bring the trophy home. The best chance they had was in 2016 when their skipper Kohli scored 973 runs in the tournament but could not give his team the silverware. The batter found his form since late 2022 and has never turned back since then. He surpassed Sachin Tendulkar’s record for most ODI hundreds.

To be very honest I thought about it: Virat Kohli

In a chat with RCB in 2022 he said, “To be very honest I thought about it. Yes, I won’t shy away from it and I have been approached many times as well to come into the auction somehow, put my name there and stuff. And then I thought about it, I was like at the end of the day everyone has X numbers of years that they live and then you die and life moves on.”

“There would have been many great people who won trophies but no one addresses you like that. No one addresses you in the room like ‘Oh he’s an IPL champion or he’s a World Cup champion. It’s like if you are a good person, people like you, if you’re a bad guy, they just stay away from you and eventually that’s what life is all about.”
