‘Protein ki bhi kami nahin…….’ – Virender Sehwag takes hilarious dig on Babar Azam-led Pakistan’s win over New Zealand
The Pakistan cricket team won their eighth clash of the ODI World Cup 2023 on November 4 at M. Chinnaswamy Cricket Stadium in Bangalore by 21 runs as per the DLS method. Notably, Babar Azam and Co. are currently in the race for the semi-final spot after an emphatic victory over the Black Caps. However, following the great win, a plethora of cricket experts and analysts praised them. Meanwhile, former India cricketer Virender Sehwag is one of them.
The well-renowned cricket commentator took to social media and took a hilarious jibe at Imam-ul-Haq’s protein remark. In addition, the former India opener called Fakhar Zaman the best batter, referring to his fantastic finish for his side. The 2011 ODI World Cup-winning member was unhappy after Pakistan kept Zaman on the bench for a few matches, which put the Men in Green in deep trouble. Moreover, the cricket analyst says that there is no lack of intent from their side as well.
“What an innings by Fakhar Zaman, by far Pakistan’s best batter. Which brains kept him on the bench for the best part of the tournament, God knows. Protein ki bhi kami nahin, jajbe ki bhi (no lack of protein and intent),” Virender Sehwag wrote on X.

We knew there was a short boundary and utilized it: Babar Azam
Meanwhile, Pakistan skipper Babar Azam revealed that they just needed a great partnership to win the match, which they really got. The 29-year-old skipper revealed that they had DLS in mind due to the poor weather in the city. Moreover, the stylish right-handed batsman used the advantage of the short boundaries and won the game. The Lahore-born cricketer is hopeful to win their next clash against England.
“When we came to the dressing room, just passed the message we need good partnerships. Said to Fakhar if he plays 15 overs we’ll be ahead. Back of the mind, we knew rain was coming. Full credit to Fakhar. We knew there was a short boundary and utilized it. We’re just trying to give 100 per cent. You never know. We’re just going match by match,” Babar Azam said after the win over NZ.
