‘Vo bhi kya din the’ – Fans react as Virat Kohli recalls old memories with coach Rahul Dravid ahead of first Test against West Indies in Dominica.
India are set to take on West Indies for the first Test of a two-match series starting on July 12th at Dominica. The series will also kickstart the World Test Championship 2023-25 cycle for both teams. Notably, it will be the fifth Test that will be hosted by Windsor Park overall and the first Test since 2017.
Incidentally, the first-ever Test match in Dominica was also played between West Indies and India that was played in July 2011. Star India batter, Virat Kohli, who is in the current Indian squad for the upcoming series, was also part of the Indian playing XI in that Test match. Apart from Kohli, current Indian head coach Rahul Dravid was also in the Indian team for that Test match.
With a couple of days ahead of the first Test, Kohli recalled his previous outing at Dominica along with the head coach and former teammate Dravid. The 34-year-old took to social media to share pictures with Dravid, stating that they both were the only players to feature in the Dominica Test match in 2011 and now they have been together again but in different roles.
“The only two guys part of the last test we played at Dominica in 2011. Never imagined the journey would bring us back here in different capacities. Highly grateful,” Kohli wrote on his Twitter.
Kohli sweating hard ahead of the first Test
Kohli has been working hard ahead of the big tour against West Indies. The former India skipper will be looking to get his form back at the longest format and go big against the Caribbean bowlers. He shared a picture on his social media a couple of days ago where he can be seen sweating at the gym with his trainer.
