WATCH: Pakistan legendary cricketer Wasim Akram’s cheeky advice for PCB ahead of Test series vs Australia

Former Pakistan cricketer Wasim Akram shared with fans a special message for the newly elected members of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) after the ODI World Cup 2023 debacle. Notably, the Men in Green failed to book their spot in the top four rankings as they finished up in the fifth spot in the points table, which knocked them out of the tournament ahead of the playoffs.

Notably, after a disastrous ODI World Cup performance in India, Pakistan’s great batter, Babar Azam, resigned from his role as captain. Left-arm pacer Shaheen Afridi was named captain of the T20I by PCB due to his great captaincy in PSL. On the other hand, Shan Masood has been named as the red-ball skipper who is all set to lead his side for the three matches of the Test series against Australia slated to take place on December 14 in Perth.

PCB has also appointed former all-rounder Muhammad Hafeez as the head coach and team’s director. Wahab Riaz has been named as the head of the selection committee. Following the same, Wasim Akram has requested that their fans give at least one year to the newly appointed committee to prove themselves. Moreover, the former right-arm pacer urged PCB to avoid conducting press conferences often.

Stick to your decisions and be brave: Wasim Akram

“Pakistan team has reached Australia and I wish them all the best for the Test series. Mohammad Hafeez has joined the Pakistan Cricket Board as team director and Wahab Riaz has taken over as chief selector. Kamran Akmal and all others. These are present cricketers. This is their time and let’s give them at least one year to prove themselves. And one more advice, don’t hold press conferences every three minutes. Stick to your decisions and be brave,” Wasim Akram said in the video.

However, the day after Riaz added tainted ex-cricketer Salman Butt to the national selection panel, the chief selector opted to reverse his decision. “The decision to appoint Salman Butt was under consideration and after a thorough review, it has been decided he will not be appointed as a consultant member,” PCB said in a statement.
