WATCH: David Miller grabs a diving one-handed catch to dismiss Kushal Mendis in the SA20 2023
In the 18th match of the SA20 2023 League, played at Boland Park in Parl between the Paarl Royals and Pretoria Capitals, David Miller exhaled fire. As Paarl triumphed admirably in the decisive over, the captain led the team from the front, creating yet another gripping competition drama. But Miller wasn’t just good at batting; he was also excellent in the field.
The Pretoria Capitals chose to bat first after winning the toss. When Will Jacks was out early in the match, opener Kusal Mendis and top-order batsman Theunis de Bruyn sensibly led the attack and put 52 runs on the board. The pair easily completed the powerplay, but Miller’s skill on the field enabled Tabraiz Shamsi to evict Kusal Mendis.
When Mendis hit the ball into the air, he was in big trouble. Miller rushed in the opposite way, reverted to a square leg stance, dived forward, and snatched a one-handed screamer just as it seemed to be about to land in no man’s land. Miller gave his team a significant advantage in the game with one of the best grabs of the SA20 competition.
