Watch: David Warner replicates Ravindra Jadeja’s sword celebration after he threatens to run him out during DC vs CSK clash in IPL 2023

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have become the second team after Gujarat Titans to confirm their qualification into the playoffs of IPL 2023 by defeating Delhi Capitals (DC) by a big margin of 77 runs in match number 67 of the season at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. With this, DC also ended its 2023 season with a loss. They had a disappointing season where they only won five out of their 14 league matches.

However, during the game, there was a hilarious moment between the DC skipper David Warner and CSK fielder Ravindra Jadeja. In the fifth over of DC’s innings, Warner played a shot against a slower delivery by Deepak Chahar and immediately ran for a risky single. Meanwhile, Moeen Ali, who was standing inside the circle collected the aimed it toward the non-striker end but missed it narrowly.

Warner completed the run as the ball went to Ajinkya Rahane. Warner teased Rahane for a throw by standing outside the crease. Rahane threw the ball and it was collected by Jadeja on the other side, who threatened to run out the DC skipper standing out of the crease again. After that, Warner, who was still standing outside the crease responded to Jadeja by replicating his famous sword celebration in front of him that left the CSK all-rounder in splits.

CSK registered a comfortable win DC

Talking about the match, Batting first, CSK posted a total of 223 runs for the loss of 3 wickets. The visitors got a flying start as Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Conway put up an opening partnership of 141 in 14.3 overs. Gaikwad got out after 79 runs off 50 balls hitting three fours and seven sixes. After that, Conway added 54 runs with Shivam Dube for the second wicket. Dube got out in the last balls of the 18th over after playing a quickfire knock of 22 runs off 9 balls hitting three sixes. In the very next over, Conway also lost his wicket after a knock of 87 runs off 52 balls with 11 fours and three sixes. After that, Jadeja added the finishing touches by scoring 20 off 7 balls.

Chasing the winning total, Warner turned out to be the lone warrior for DC with wickets falling regularly from the other end. The DC skipper played a fighting knock of 86 runs off 58 balls hitting seven fours and five fours and five sixes before getting out in the 19th over. At last, DC could only reach 146 runs losing 9 wickets.
