Watch: Eoin Morgan takes terrific catch against Pretoria Capitals in SA20
Former England captain Eoin Morgan took a fantastic catch in the SA20 2023 on Tuesday, February 7. Morgan, who is playing for Paarl Royals in the SA20 league, took the catch of Pretoria Capitals’ batting all-rounder Theunis de Bruyn.
Morgan was stationed at the off-side when the South African cricketer De Bruyn slashed at a wide tempter of a ball from Andile Phehlukwayo in the ninth over of the match. Morgan threw himself onto the ball and easily managed to hold the ball to acquire a special catch. De Bruyn has scored only 12 runs out of 13 balls before losing his wicket. The Capitals were 93 and lost one wicket in that over.

However, a brilliant knock from Kusal Mendis helped the Pretoria Capitals to post a mammoth 229/5 in their allotted 20 overs. The Sri Lankan cricketer scored 80 runs from 41 balls and emerged as the Player of the Match. Colin Ingram (41) and Phil Salt (39) also made worthwhile contributions to the Pretoria Capitals as they beat the Royals by 59 runs.
The Royals were reduced to 38/3 in the Powerplay and then was 101/5 in the 14th over when captain David Miller left the pitch. However, Royals still had one of their prominent batter Jos Buttler at the crease. The England’s limited-overs captain registered 70 off 45 balls, which includes 9 boundaries.
Despite the loss, the Royals edged out the Durban’s Super Giants and booked the last remaining semi-final spot. The Royals thus booked a repeat clash with Capitals. The Capitals who lost only three in a total of 10 matches who were table-topping with 32 points. The Capital is set to face the fourth-placed Royals in the first semi-final clash of the 2023 season at the Wanderers Stadium on Wednesday, February 9. The second SA20 semi-final will see the second-placed Joburg Super Kings face off against third-placed Sunrisers Eastern Cape at Centurion on Thursday, February 9.
