Watch: Euphoric celebrations from CSK team hotel as players return after clinching 5th IPL title

After clinching the IPL title for the fifth time, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and their players got a grand welcome at the team hotel in Ahmedabad. MS Dhoni-led CSK defeated the defending champions Gujarat Titans in a thrilling final at the Narendra Modii stadium to win the 2023 IPL. After the match and the post-match ceremony, players headed to the Hotel where the fans and Hotel staff were present to give a euphoric welcome to CSK for lifting the title.

In the video shared by CSK on their social media, the players can be seen leaving the stadium where fans couldn’t keep calm while watching their favourite players going after winning the trophy. After that, players were headed to the hotel where Matheesha Pathirana was seen coming with the IPL trophy and the skipper MS Dhoni was seen cutting the cake to celebrate CSK’s triumph.

Talking about the match, batting first, GT posted a big total of 214 runs for the loss of 4 wickets. The defending champions got a flying start as Shubman Gill and Wriddhiman Saha put up a partnership of 67 runs for the first wicket in seven overs before Gill got trapped by Ravindra Jadeja followed by the lightening fast stumping by MS Dhoni after scoring 39 runs off 20 balls hitting seven boundaries.

After that, Saha took charge of the innings along with Sai Sudharsan as they both added 64 runs for the second wicket. Saha got out after 54 runs off 39 balls with five fours and a maximum. While Sudharsan played the best knock of his IPL career as he got out after scoring 96 runs off 47 balls smashing eight fours and six sixes. Skipper Hardik Pandya remained unbeaten by scoring 21 off 12 balls with two sixes.

Jadeja snatched the victory from GT

Chasing the winning total, CSK openers just played three balls of the first over before rain decided to play a spoilsport. After that, the match was reduced to 15 overs and CSK now needed 171 runs as per the DLS method to win. Devon Conway and Ruturaj Gaikwad put up a partnership of 74 runs for the first wicket in just 6.3 overs. Gaikwad got out after scoring 26 runs off 16 balls, while a couple of deliveries later, Conway also lost his wicket after scoring 47 off 25 balls with four fours and two sixes.

After that, Ajinkya Rahane, Ambati Rayadu, and Shivam Dube played handful of knocks that helped CSK to get closer to the target. Rahane got out after scoring 27 of 13 balls while Rayadu scored 19 off 8. Dube remained unbeaten on 32 runs off 21 balls, but it was Jadeja who finished things off for CSK when 10 runs were needed from the last two balls. He smashed a six on the penultimate balls and a four on the last ball of the match by Mohit Sharma as CSK registered a thrilling victory to clinch their fifth IPL title
