WATCH: Fan grabs one-handed stunner off Tristan Stubbs six during Sunrisers Easter Cape vs Pretoria Capitals

In the third match of the SA20 2023, Pretoria Capitals locked horns with Sunrisers Eastern Cape on Thursday, January 12. The game was played at St Geoge’s Park, Gqeberha. Eastern Cape won the toss and elected to bowl first.

Aiden Markram, the Sunrisers Eastern Cape’s skipper, chose to bowl first for the Pretoria Capitals. Will Jacks and Rilee Rossouw were both out in the first two overs, which brought immediate rewards for the bowling team. Before the rain stopped play, the Pretoria Capitals managed to fight their way back into the game.

On the third ball of the ninth over, Tristan Stubbs slammed a six against New Zealand all-rounder Jimmy Neesham. which was grabbed by a man in the crowd with ease with his right hand. The shot went over extra cover, towards the shorter boundary but it was sweetly struck and we had one more one-handed catch from a spectator in the stands.

Phil Salt stars in Pretoria Capitals’ victory

Soon after the weather delay, the Sunrisers gave the Pretoria Capitals yet another devastating blow when Othniel Baartman sensationally sent back Theunis de Bruyn. De Bruyn’s expansive drive was narrowly missed by Baartman’s ball, which sent his middle stump for a stroll and would have delighted any fast bowler in the world.

The tall Protean batter did not bother turning around because he was on his way back to the pavilion after hearing the death rattle and leaving his side behind in trouble shortly after the protracted rain delay. Before Pretoria’s outstanding English opener Phil Salt took matters into his own hands, Markram’s team had completely dominated their opponents.

Before the erratic Kiwi all-rounder, Jimmy Neesham arrived to support the Englishman at the crease, Salt was playing a lone hand. The pair used a counterattacking 77-run stand for the sixth wicket to take the attack to the opposition’s bowlers and help their team reach an above-average total on a difficult surface. With bowlers like Anrich Nortje on the team, Wayne Parnell also put up a spectacular cameo to help his team post a score that was more than competitive.
