Asia Cup 2023
WATCH: ‘If you don’t like it, don’t watch the matches’ – Sunil Gavaskar shutting reply to trolls of India’s Asia Cup squad
The Indian Cricket Board has revealed the 17-member squad for the upcoming Asia Cup, which is all set to begin on August 30. Notably, the roaster marks the comeback of KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer in the team after their grave injuries. In addition, Suryakumar Yadav has been included in the squad despite having poor performances in 50-over formats, along with young player Tilak Varma, who hasn’t appeared in any of the ODIs, whereas there was the omission of off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin and leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal despite their great performances in the recently concluded West Indies tour.
Notably, a plethora of fans are trolling the Indian Cricket Board for the same instance, while calling it an imbalanced side. Meanwhile, speaking on the same subject, former India cricketer turned analyst Sunil Gavaskar has given a mouth-splitting reply to the trolls. The former India skipper accepted that there were a few lucky players who had been selected in the squad for the Asia Cup.
If you don’t like it, don’t watch the matches but stop saying: Sunil Gavaskar
In addition, the cricket commentator affirms that the team has been selected and urges the fans to stop creating controversies, especially for Ravichandran Ashwin, who didn’t get a place in the squad for the Asia Cup. Moreover, the legendary cricketer also says that if one doesn’t like the squad, one can stop watching the matches rather than make baseless suggestions about it. Furthermore, the former batter feels that people have the wrong mindset towards the selection committee.
“Yes, there are a few players who will believe that they are lucky. But the team is selected. So don’t talk about Ashwin. Stop creating controversy. This is our team now. If you don’t like it, don’t watch the matches but stop saying that he should have been picked or another should be there, this is a wrong mindset,” Sunil Gavaskar said on Aaj Tak.
