The Indian Women’s Team has been keenly watching the Women’s T20 League auction while in South Africa. All the team members have been witnessing the history unfold together. The players are currently in South Africa representing India in the 20-20 World Cup 2023.

Renuka Singh, a Team India pacer, was overjoyed when the Bangalore team signed her for Rs 1.5 crore in the Women’s T20 League Auction 2023 on Monday. In recent times, India’s star pacer has emerged as a major match-winner with the ball.

The 27-year-old made her international debut in 2021 and has since become a mainstay in the Indian set-up across all formats. India uses her as the first-choice pacer because her recent exploits with the ball against big teams have instilled confidence in the captain in her abilities.

Renuka’s bid was initiated by Delhi, and Bangalore quickly joined them, eventually signing her. The video of Indian players loudly cheering for Renuka after she joined the Bangalore franchise went viral on social media, and the franchise reposted it as well. Her family also celebrated the occasion by sharing sweets with family members in Himachal Pradesh.

Renuka also expressed her delight at the prospect of playing for Bangalore alongside India teammate Smriti Mandhana, who was signed by the franchise for a whopping INR 3.4 crore. “Mai bohot khush hu ki RCB ne mujhe liya. Itna maza aa raha tha, actually hum ikkathe baith ke hi dekh rahe the ye auction. Main cheez Smriti bhi team me hai to unke saath to mai bohot khel chuki hu. Unke saath khelne ka alag hi maza aata hai. Jitna Zyada ho sake RCB ko match jitayenge bas yahi hai ki support karte rahe RCB ko.

(I am overjoyed that RCB chose me. We were all having a good time watching the auction together. Most importantly, Smriti is on the same team as me, and I’ve had a lot of fun playing with her. It’s always enjoyable to play with her. We will try to win as many games as we can for RCB, so please continue to support the team.)
