WATCH: ‘Keep your phone on tonight’ – Ricky Ponting to Andrew McDonald on Cameron Green’s Indian T20 League contract
Cameron Green is one of the players who can get the highest bids in the Indian T20 League 2023 mini auctions. The Delhi franchise head coach Ricky Ponting said that his side will try their best to grab Green in their squad if he is available for the most number of matches. Ponting revealed his intention in a discussion on 7 Cricket during the Australia -West Indies clash which is taking place in Perth.
The former Australian captain told the Australian head coach Andrew McDonald to keep his phone on so that he can have an Indian T20 League auction conversation about Green.
“Maybe not here on-air but Keep your phone on tonight. I’m really interested to have an Indian T20 League conversation with you about Cameron Green cos I freed up a fair bit of money for the Delhi franchise this year. I wanna low down on how much he’s gonna be available. The fans will love him,” Ponting said during the post-lunch show.

For which team will Cameron Green play in the Indian T20 League 2023?
The Delhi franchise has released players like Shardul Thakur, Tim Seifert, Ashwin Hebbar, KS Bharat, and Mandeep Singh and they will go into Indian T20 League 2023 mini-auctions next month with a purse of ₹19.45 crore and they can surely purchase the young all-rounder from Australia.
Green while opening in the series against India before the 20-20 World Cup showed what he is capable of. As the majority of Australian and English players will be skipping the Indian T20 League next season due to international commitments, he can be sold at a much higher amount than expected.
Not only Delhi franchises but teams like Lucknow Super Giants ( ₹23.35 crore), the Punjab Kings ( ₹32.2 crore), the Chennai Super Kings ( ₹20.45 crore), the Sunrisers Hyderabad ( ₹42.25 crore) are also in contention to buy this player.
“Speaking to a lot of guys, especially in the WA (Western Australia) set up about their experiences in the Indian T20 League, they speak so highly of it. They speak about the quality coaches that you are around, the quality players that you are around. They are all the best in the world at their craft. It is a craft that I have not been exposed to too much. I am so open to wanting to learn as much as I can and that is probably one of the best environments to learn in,” Green said on cricket.com.au.
