WATCH: KL Rahul hits huge six with the ball going outside the stadium

The last few weeks have been a dream run for KL Rahul. The 31-year-old has made a strong comeback to the Indian side after his long injury lay-off. KL Rahul was named the captain for the first two games of the current ODI series against Australia.

The right-handed batter was in a different mood when he came out to bat during the 2^nd ODI. Cricket fans in Indore witnessed the 31-year-old play in the fourth gear right from the start. Australia captain Steve Smith seemed to rue his decision to send India into bat. Pat Cummins was given rest for the game. Jasprit Bumrah too was rested as he was replaced by Prasidh Krishna.

KL Rahul smashes Cameron Green out of the ground 

The Indian team was already batting in fourth gear thanks to Shubman Gill and Shreyas Iyer. At the fall of Iyer’s wicket, in-walked KL Rahul – the national captain. Cameron Green was tasked with bowing the 35^th over.

Green bowled one short at 131 KPH and Rahul was waiting for it. The right-handed batter pulled the ball as it sailed over the stand and went out of the ground. The umpires had no choice but to call for a new ball to be given as it travelled into orbit.

Josh Hazlewood came into the Australian XI and made an immediate impact. The Australian pace bowler got the big wicket of Ruturaj Gaikwad for 8. The score at that stage read 16/1, and the Australians had to wait another 200 runs to get their next wicket.

Shreyas Iyer and Shubman Gill both scored centuries much to the delight of the Indian team and its fans. Iyer was the first to get to his three-figure mark when he took a single off Adam Zampa. This was the 3^rd ton for the 28-year-old Indian batter who has been battling injuries.

Shubman Gill continued his good form with the bat during the calendar year. The 24-year-old notched up yet another century as he went past the 1200-run mark for the year. The two Indian batters put the Australian attack to the sword.

The stand was broken when Iyer was out for 105 caught by Matthew Short off Sean Abbott. Shubman Gill was soon out for 104 when he was caught by Alex Carey off Cameron Green. Gill scored his runs off 97 balls with 6 fours and 4 sixes.
