WATCH: Mr Nags makes fun of Bangalore Women’s franchise as he reminds them off the number of wins they got in WTL

Bangalore, a team that has played in the Indian T20 League for 15 seasons, has the most devoted fan group. Because of players like Virat Kohli, Faf du Plessis, and Chris Gayle, the team has drawn large crowds to the M Chinnaswamy Stadium whenever and wherever they have competed over the past three years.

Even though Kohli, who led the team for nine years as skipper, didn’t win the trophy, the bond between him and the franchise has endured. Kohli has amassed the most runs in Indian T20 League history and is the only player to play exclusively for one franchise throughout the league’s first 16 seasons, starting in 2008.

The franchise benefited from having notable players like Smriti Mandhana, Ellyse Perry, Sophie Devine, Richa Ghosh, and Renuka Singh Thakur among others when they decided to start a Women’s T20 League side. Due to the fact that all of the games were contested in Mumbai, Bangalore received the second-highest crowd support after Mumbai.

How did Bangalore’s women team do in the Women’s T20 League?

Due to her resemblance to Kohli in several ways, Mandhana, the skipper of RCB’s WPL squad, was naturally questioned about comparisons before the competition began. Mandhana said, “I don’t like that kind of comparison because what he (Kohli) has achieved is amazing. I just hope that I reach that level, but I’m nowhere near. What he has achieved for this franchise (RCB), I would like to try and do that.”

The squad only won two games and placed fourth in a five-team tournament, in spite of having some of the biggest names in sports. The men’s team, despite everything going their way, hasn’t yet won a championship and consistently performs poorly when it counts most, prompting the supporters to quickly draw comparisons with the ITL and WTL teams of Bangalore.

Here is the video:

In response, RCB Insider Mr. Nags (who is portrayed by Danish Sait) poked fun at Virat Kohli by asking him what he thought about Mandhana’s claim that she would accomplish big things for the team in the same way that the former Bangalore captain had.

Virat Kohli responded to this by saying that, “This is big franchise pressure. A lot of people take it as fun and games, ‘this team doesn’t win. Come play when you have so many expectations, we are a big team otherwise, why would we have so many fans if we had some faltu team?”
