WATCH: Sachin Tendulkar issues statement after falling victim to Deepfake video
India’s cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar expressed grief over the Deepfake video. On Monday, it came to light that the former India skipper was the latest victim of the trend. A notorious gaming application had used his likeness and voice to promote their brand.
Once the entire saga came to light Sachin Tendulkar was quick to issue clarification on the same. The 50-year-old has issued a warning over the misuse of technology and urged people to be cautious.
Rashmika Mandanna noted Bollywood actress was one of the first notable names to fall prey. Even Sara Tendulkar has fallen prey to the Deepfake video just a few months ago. The disturbing trend was spoken about by the Indian PM Shri Narendra Modi as well.

After the entire Deepfake saga has unfolded Sachin Tendulkar has shown his displeasure. One gaming application has used Tendulkar’s exact face and voice to urge people to use the app.

Sachin Tendulkar was quick to denounce any association with the application. Taking to his Twitter account, the 50-year-old said “These videos are fake. It is disturbing to see rampant misuse of technology. Request everyone to report videos, ads & apps like these in large numbers. Social Media platforms need to be alert and responsive to complaints. Swift action from their end is crucial to stopping the spread of misinformation and deep fakes”
Meanwhile, India’s IT Minister has taken note of the appeal made by India’s greatest cricket star. The minister issued a statement which read “Deepfake is a big issue for all of us. We recently issued notices to all the big social media forms, asking them to take steps to identify deepfakes, for removing those content. The social media platforms have responded. They are taking action. We have told them to be more aggressive in this work”
India’s IT Minister ended by saying “Also, we must notice that the ‘Safe Harbour’ Clause that most of the social media platforms have been enjoying, doesn’t apply if the platforms do not take adequate steps to remove the deepfakes from their platforms.”
