WATCH: Superman Cameron Bancroft grabs a stunning running catch against Sydney Thunder in the Big Bash League 2022-23

In the 39th match of the Big Bash League 2022-23, Sydney Thunder locked horns against the Perth Scorchers side on Friday, January 13, 2023, at the Sydney Showground Stadium.

Perth Scorchers won the toss and elected to field first. Scorchers didn’t make any changes in their squad while the home team, brought in Australian veteran left-hand opening batter David Warner, who played his first game of the 12th season of the BBL.

On the fourth ball of the 19th over, Andrew Tye bowled to Nathan McAndrew pulled with plenty of bottom-hand power towards deep mid-wicket. Bancroft ran to his right from long-on and flung himself full stretch at the last moment before plucking the ball with both hands mid-air. Made an incredibly tough catch look easy there.

Sydney Thunder bundled out for 111

Sydney Thunder was knocked out for 111, giving the Perth Scorchers a pathetic win target.

Young gun achieves third Big Bash League half-century The only standout performer for the Thunder in the first innings was Ollie Davies, while veteran Scorchers bowler Tye claimed three wickets.

Beginning his Big Bash League start in style, Scorchers newcomer David Payne dismissed Thunder wicketkeeper Matthew Gilkes for a second-ball duck after hitting the left-outside hander’s edge.

Young gun Ollie Davies and veteran David Warner, who was playing in his first BBL match in nine years, steered the ship with a 67-run third-wicket stand.

However, Warner mishandled a lap shot and was caught behind for 19 (20), succumbing to Scorchers paceman Matthew Kelly, shortly before Davies reached his half-century.

Before partner Alex Ross left for a shaky 3 (8), caught at deep third man off Kelly’s bowling, Davies had completed his fifty in 30 deliveries.

In the 13th over, the 22-year-amusing old’s innings came to an end as he charged down the field toward Scorchers spinner Ashton Agar and was stumped for 52. (36).

Ben Cutting’s time at the wicket was brief; he was quickly dismissed for 9 (8) after being caught at midwicket by Cameron Bancroft, Morris’ second victim of the evening.
