Watch: Umran Malik sends Devdutt Padikkal’s stumps cartwheeling with scorching 149kph delivery in Indian T20 League 2023
On Sunday, April 2, Rajasthan and Hyderabad square off at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad on the third day of the Indian T20 League 2023 on Sunday, April 2. Hyderabad won the toss and opted to bowl first, however, their decision proved wrong as the Rajasthan-based franchise put up a humongous total of 2023 runs in the first innings.
Meanwhile, Hyderabad fast bowler Umran Malik was breathing fire in the first innings of the game with his superb pace as he dismissed Rajasthan’s left-handed young batter Devdutt Padikkal in the 15th over with a scorching 149kph delivery. The ball skidded and stayed low from a considerable length and Padkkal hardly had any time to move his feet.

However, that was the only enjoyable moment for the speedster as couldn’t dismiss any other batter after it and also conceded 32 runs in just 3 overs. But he will surely make a remarkable comeback in the next match as we have seen many times. However, his performance in the last season of the cash-rich league was brilliant and on top of that, he was even named emerging player of the season in 2022. He also received a maiden call from the national side and represented the Indian team in some limited over games where his performance was also decent.
Poor bowling performance by Hyderabad
Coming back to Rajasthan’s innings, their Jos Buttler and Yashasvi Jaiswal destroyed Hyderabad’s bowlers by utilising the powerplay to its fullest and scoring 85 runs within the powerplay itself. Jaiswal joined hands with skipper Sanju Samson after Buttler’s dismissal and both kept the scoreboard ticking that too with good pace following the excellent start provided by Buttler and helped the team to a big total of 203 runs in 20 overs.
Hyderabad bowlers didn’t have too much to take away from this match as only T Natrajan was the bowler who took 2 wickets and was pretty economical as well. Their spinners disappointed the fans as Adil Rashid and Washington Sundar couldn’t even take a single wicket. Fazalhaq Faaroqi also took two wickets but conceded 41 runs in his four allotted overs.
