Watch: Virat Kohli gets out cheaply to Jaydev Unadkat during practice session ahead of Ind vs WI Test series

After losing the World Test Championship 2023 final against Australia last month, Team India is all set to take on the Caribbean challenge as they are scheduled for two Tests, three ODIs and five T20Is in West Indies. The players have already begun their preparations for the upcoming Test series which will also mark India’s arrival in the World Test Championship 2023-25 cycle.

As all the players from the Indian team have reached West Indies a good 9 days before the first Test in Dominica, they had an ideal opportunity to test their skills before taking on the hosts. They practised a matchlike situation in Barbados with top-order batters like Rohit Sharma, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, Ajinkya Rahane, and frontline bowlers like Jaydev Unadkat, Mohammed Siraj, R Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja getting divided into two different teams.

The batters came out in pairs before they were dismissed. Skipper Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal played decent knocks in the first session, After that, Virat Kohli and Shubman Gill came out to bat in the post-lunch session. However, Kohli couldn’t spend much time on the crease as he was dismissed early by the pacer Jaydev Unadkat.

Kohli was tricked by Unadkat with a outside off-stump delivery

The 34-year-old started off his innings comfortably against Jadeja and seemed to have full control of the innings even against Unadkat. When Unadkat tried to bring the ball back in or angle it away from over the wicket, the former India captain played a delightful flick shot for a couple off Unadkat.

However, Kohli was flattered when Unadkat changed the angle and went around the wicket. The left-arm pacer pitched one around the fourth stump and got it to just hold its line. After that, Kohli ended up pushing at the ball with no assertive foot movement and ended up giving a catch to the second slip fielder.

Kohli hasn’t been at his best in red-ball cricket for the past few years. The 34-year-old will be keen to get back to his old form in the longest format. His biggest concern would be not to play the ball that delivers outside off stump.
