WATCH: Wayne Parnell does Cristiano Ronaldo’s ‘nap’ and ‘siuu’ celebrations against Sunrisers Eastern Cape

Pretoria Capitals, led by Wayne Parnell, defeated Sunrisers Eastern Cape for the second straight game in the ongoing SA20 to record two victories. Pretoria Capital achieved a massive total of 216 in the first innings thanks to a daring 92 from Will Jacks, setting up the victory.

Despite the relatively flat playing field, The Sunrisers needed to put in a massive effort to match the intimidating score established by Pretoria Capitals. Sarel Erwee and Jordan Cox were both dismissed by Wayne Parnell on his second and third deliveries of the game after he had earlier been dismissed for a golden duck and celebrated in a different and unique style. He celebrated the first wicket with star footballer Cristiano Ronaldo’s “nap” celebrations and the second with the footballer’s trademark “siuu”.

Pretoria Capitals defeat Sunrisers Eastern Cape twice in a row

The Sunrisers had to put in a heroic effort to catch the formidable score established by Pretoria Capitals despite the relatively flat playing field. Following his dismissal for a golden duck earlier in the game, Wayne Parnell took the initiative with the ball and dismissed Sarel Erwee and Jordan Cox on his second and third deliveries.

Thanks to their skipper Aiden Markram, who was playing brilliantly, the Sunrisers were still in the game despite losing two early wickets. The batting ace soon cracked under the strain, though, as there wasn’t much help coming from the other end. At the very end, Marco Jansen and Brydon Carse did forge a potent alliance, although it served simply to narrow the defeat’s margin.

Sunrisers attempted to reenter the game, but their efforts were in vain as Jacks and Theunis de Bruyn went into overdrive. In their quick 111-run stand for the third wicket in just 54 deliveries, they spared no bowler. While de Bruyn went for a 23-ball 42 his batting partner came just eight short of an astonishing tonne, the first of the league after he was bowled by Marco Jansen in the 15th over.

The Capitals were persistent with the bat, rushing to 216 in their 20 overs, the biggest score by any team thus far, despite Markram’s bowlers to some part regaining control of the situation. The only bowlers who avoided punishment amid the chaos in the first innings were Marco Jansen and Sisanda Magala.
