WATCH: Kyle Mayers’ unplayable inswinging yorker sends Dewald Brewis back to pavilion in SA20 2023
South African youngster Dewald Brevis, who was the star for his side in their opening fixture against Paarl Royals, got clean bowled by a stunning yorker by Kyle Mayers. Brevis came into the game with a Player of the Match award on his back. But could not quite replicate the heroics that he produced in the first game in the second.
Table-toppers MI CapeTown faced off against Durban Super Giants in Newlands in the fifth game of the first season of South Africa’s premier franchise tournament, SA20 2023. After winning the toss, the Super Giants decided to bat first in the game. Kyle Mayers, a flashy Caribbean all-rounder, received the new ball from Quinton de Kock in an unexpected move.
His decision proved to be a wise one, as the 30-year-old brilliantly dismissed the powerful Proteas opener Brevis. The batters have already been startled by a few thunderous inswinging pitches during the tournament; unfortunately for the youngster, the ball brutally dove inside with the movement, turning it into an unplayable yorker.

Kyle Mayers shine with both bat and ball
The 19-year-old gave it his all, but he was removed by Mayers for a two-ball duck after failing to put his bat down in time, completely messing up the stumps. Ryan Rickelton, Brevis’ opening partner, got out cheaply in the fourth over of the game.
As soon as Prenelan Subrayen dismissed Rassie van der Dussen and Sam Curran in the eighth over, things only got worse for the Cape Town-based franchise. Grant Roelofsen lost the top order cheaply but was still playing single-handedly.
To secure their first victory of the ongoing SA20 2023, the Durban franchise completed a thumping victory over a star-studded Cape Town-based franchise. In the end, Quinton de Kock’s team easily defeated their opponents by five wickets because they were superior to them in every way. In Cape Town, Kyle Mayers’ all-around performance earned him the title of player of the match.
