‘We are focusing on…’- Meg Lanning makes big statement ahead of Women’s T20 League auction

The Women’s 20-20 World Cup is scheduled to take place in South Africa from February 10. All players are fully prepared for the major event which is set to be a high-voltage tournament. The auction, which has taken over the thoughts of female cricketers, is the elephant in the room as the teams prepare for the competition.

The Women’s T20 League auction will reportedly take place on February 13 in Mumbai. Meg Lanning, the captain of Australia, stated that there are no right or wrong ways to approach the auction and that everyone on her team will handle it as they see fit.

The Women’s T20 League auction is a new experience for women’s cricketers, according to Meg Lanning, Australia’s national team skipper will try their best to defend their title at the Women’s 20-20 World Cup.

We’re just trying to focus as much as we can on the cricket here, that’s the most important thing: Meg Lanning

“It’s a new experience for us and at the same time we are focusing on what we’re trying to do here which is the most important thing. There’s no right or wrong way to do that and everyone individually will deal with it as they wish. I think it’s important that you’re always working as a team, but also letting people deal with it how they feel is best,” said Lanning at the Captains’ press conference at Cape Town.

According to Lanning, women cricketers are attempting to seize the new prospects as exciting times are soon to arrive for them in the Indian league.

“As Sophie (Devine) said, it’s a little bit awkward, but it’s just trying to embrace that and understanding it’s actually a really exciting time and you actually don’t have a lot of control over most of it, so you’ve just got to wait and see. We’re just trying to focus as much as we can on the cricket here, that’s the most important thing,” Lanning said.
