Check out what experts say: Will India use all their three spinners against Australia in ODI World Cup 2023?

Team India is all set to lock horns against Australia on October 8 at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai to commence their ODI World Cup 2023 journey. Notably, Rohit Sharma and Co. registered a big win against Pat Cummins and Co. in the recently concluded ODI series; however, they will try to outclass Australia during their opening game of the ODI World Cup 2023.

Meanwhile, the Men in Blue have the biggest advantage against Australia. Team India has three world-class spinners, namely Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, and Kuldeep Yadav. On the other hand, Pat Cummins and Co. have Adam Zampa as the premier one, whereas Glenn Maxwell will be used in some overs during the play.

Speaking on the same subject, former India cricketer Zaheer Khan feels all three spinners will be set to play in India’s XI against Australia. In addition, the former left-arm pacer says Mohammed Siraj and Jasprit Bumrah will be the main pacers, along with all-rounder Hardik Pandya, during the clash against Pat Cummins and Co. on October 8.

I feel that all three spinners will be in the playing XI: Zaheer Khan

“When you are playing in Chennai, the first discussion should be about accommodating three spinners. With Hardik Pandya there, Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj will be the two frontline seamers. I feel that all three spinners will be in the playing XI. Shardul Thakur will have to miss out,” Zaheer Khan said on Cricbuzz.

Australia have struggled against spin: Virender Sehwag

Meanwhile, former India opener Virender Sehwag feels Australia has struggled a lot against India’s spinner during the matches. The well-renowned cricketer commentator heaps praise on all three bowlers while calling them the strongest spin department. Moreover, the 2011 World Cup-winning star advises Team India to use all three spinners during their opening game, as the Chennai pitch used to have turns, which will help spinners.

“You generally associate slow and turning wickets with Chennai. We have a very strong spin department with Ravichandran Ashwin, Kuldeep Yadav, and Ravindra Jadeja. We have seen very recently that Australia have struggled against spin. They lost the first two games. There wasn’t much turn in the third ODI, which is why they played better and won,” Virender Sehwag said.
